It has a lower energy range than the Zapp Plus 2.0, and the stylus is shorter and non-removable. That isn't an issue for bracelets, but the shorter stylus can make it more difficult to comfortably reach when welding anklets and necklaces.

Zapp Plus 2.0 — Lyndi's Pick

If you're asking me which permanent jewelry welder I would choose, it's the Zapp Plus 2.0.

It's super portable, backed by a 3-year warranty and has a broad energy range that gives you the flexibility to weld both thin and thicker permanent jewelry jump rings.

One of the biggest reasons I prefer it is the long, removable stylus. That extra reach makes a noticeable difference when you're moving around a client to weld necklaces and anklets.

Orion mPulse

The Orion mPulse is another great professional permanent jewelry welder and gives you a powerful, capable setup.

Add an Argon Setup

Argon is completely optional, but I personally always weld with it.

Using 100% argon shielding gas can help reduce oxidation around the weld and produce cleaner, more consistent welds.

For most permanent jewelry artists, I recommend skipping disposable mini bottles and using our Premium Argon Regulator with a refillable 20 cubic foot bottle of 100% argon from a local welding supply company such as Airgas or Linde.

My recommendation: Argon is optional, but I personally use it. If you're choosing between the two setups, I prefer the refillable bottle and Premium Argon Regulator because it's far more economical over time, saving you hundreds.
